Interior of The Monogram at East Bay, intended to be an event space in the historic F.W. Wagener Building at 161 East Bay Street in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. While a buildout of the space had begun, with the building's having been gutted and prepared for new interior construction, work on the space had stopped, and four years after the anticipated fall 2020 opening, the building was still largely a shell.

If I were to guess why The Monogram was never completed, I can only assume that all of the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic response put the brakes on this effort, and caused investors to back out.
