Mount Vernon Square, a station on the Green and Yellow Lines of the Washington Metro system. At the time that this photo was taken, the station was closed to the public due to security measures surrounding the presidential inauguration, which would occur the following day. Green Line trains in both directions passed the station without stopping, while northbound Yellow Line trains offloaded passengers at Gallery Place-Chinatown and then ran empty to Mount Vernon Square to turn around in the usual way before resuming passenger service towards Huntington at Gallery Place-Chinatown.
