The SS United States, moored in the Mobile River in Mobile, Alabama. The former ocean liner was towed to Mobile from its longtime berth in Philadelphia from February 19 to March 3, 2025 following its purchase by Okaloosa County, Florida in order to undergo environmental remediation work prior to being sunk off of the Gulf coast of Florida in order to become an artificial reef.
This view shows the fantail of the ship, facing slightly to port. Compare to a similar view seven months earlier while the ship was still in Philadelphia. Note that a damaged section of the railing has now been cut away.
