Pier 82 at the Port of Philadelphia, across Columbus Boulevard from IKEA. From 1996 to 2025, this pier was the berth of the SS United States.

Seeing this pier empty really hit me hard, remembering that the United States was gone. I was not able to attend her departure from Philadelphia in February 2025, though I did visit her one final time the following April in Mobile, Alabama. Visiting the ship in Mobile felt like seeing an old friend once again, but despite seeing the same ship in a new place, it didn't really hit hone that she was gone until I came back to her old longtime berth in Philadelphia and saw that she was not there.
